Amihan Charters was born from a simple idea: that the Bahamas — one of the most stunning sailing destinations in the world — deserved an LGBT-owned charter company that its community could call their own.
As someone who has spent years exploring these extraordinary waters, I kept noticing the same gap: plenty of beautiful charter boats, but nowhere that felt like it was built for us — for the gay, lesbian, bi, trans, and queer travellers who want more than just tolerance. We want to be celebrated.
So I bought the boat, got my captain's license, and started building something new. Amihan Charters is that something. Named for the Filipino word for the cool northeast trade wind that ushers in dry season — the wind that brings good things — I couldn't imagine a better name for a company trying to do the same.
I'm Chris — founder, managing director, and your captain. I can't wait to welcome you aboard.
A genuinely LGBT-owned and operated space — not performative allyship, not rainbow-washing. Real community, real welcome.
Welcoming to gay men, lesbians, bi, trans, non-binary, and queer travellers. Every identity is celebrated here.
A consent-forward, respectful environment for all guests. Our boat is a safe space — full stop.
Premium service, a well-maintained vessel, experienced professional crew. You deserve the best.
Building lasting connections between guests and the broader LGBT travel community around the world.
Sustainable sailing practices that protect the extraordinary Bahamas ecosystem for generations to come.
We're just getting started. Our vision is to become the premier LGBT sailing charter company in the Caribbean — recognised for exceptional service, meaningful community connection, and a genuine commitment to making the Bahamas a celebrated destination for queer travellers worldwide.
In Year 2 and beyond, we plan to add a second vessel, launch flotilla events for large Pride groups, and build partnerships with Nassau's top LGBT-friendly resorts and experiences. This is the beginning of something much bigger.
And we want you along for the ride.
"Amihan" is the Filipino word for the cool northeast trade wind that ushers in the dry season across the Philippines — a refreshing, welcome breeze after the heat of monsoon. It's adventurous, nautical, and deeply evocative. It's also the wind that brings good things. We couldn't imagine a better name for a company trying to do exactly that — to bring joy, freedom, and beautiful sailing experiences into the lives of the LGBT community in the Bahamas.
